Reverend Dr. J. Loren Russell

James Loren Russell was born in Harlem, New York and raised in the Bronx, where he and his wife (Evelyn) of twenty-eight years currently reside. Loren began his professional career as a life insurance agent, quickly rising to sales manager and then senior management.
Family-ManTo fulfill his entrepreneurial ambitions, Loren established
The JLR Company in 1992 to provide personal and business financial planning services, motivational and developmental seminars and workshops, and “Biblical Economics” to the religious community. Today, Loren has expanded those services to include church consulting in finance, church growth and evangelism, capital campaigns, public relations and media consulting.

He earned the Master’s of Divinity degree from Drew Theological Seminary and received an Honorary Doctorate of Ministry from Virginia University of Lynchburg. He recently left the North American Mission Board (NAMB) where he served as NYC Church Planting Coordinator, NE Regional Church Finance Consultant and NE Regional Strategy Coordinator.

SubstandardFullSizeRender (2)Loren’s spiritual and civic commitment keeps him very busy.  He serves as an Associate Minister and Sunday School teacher at both Goodwill Baptist Church and The Greater Universal Baptist Church, both in the Bronx. He is the founder of the Back In Stride Ministry, a ministry that helps ex-offenders establish their own businesses; President of the Home/Simpson Street Homeowners Association; past Chairman of the Board for the Community League of the Heights, NYC; past Chair of Chairman of the Board for Volunteer Westchester; current president of the Yonkers-East Yonkers Rotary Club, member of the Area Impact Council of the United Way of Westchester and Putnam; helped establish and provide the voice for the Speaking Community Calendar of BronxNet cable, writes a weekly column called “Matters of Faith” for The Bronx Chronicle (http://thebronxchronicle.com) and hosts “Matters of Faith – The Radio Show” every Monday from 8:00-10:00 PM. He is frequently a sought after as keynote speaker, motivational instructor, workshop leader, and master of ceremonies for a variety of programs

There is one quote that is a favorite of Loren’s from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. that epitomizes his philosophy on life.  It states, “We must all learn to live together as brothers or we will all perish together as fools.”
